This report from CSR Wire tells us about the recent study completed by Living Cities on the efforts of the major cities in the country to combat global warming. What they found is that cities are doing a good job of encouraging building energy retrofits, green workforce development and transit-oriented development, but that they are generally not doing enough to include lower-income workers in the creation of greencollar jobs. This is important, especially in cities like Detroit and Pittsburgh that are experiencing high levels of unemployment. Green collar jobs can in many ways become the future of our cities, and we need to search for opportunities to create these jobs.
