Project for Noah’s Ark site is adrift again

Tim Bryant writes about the Streets of St. Charles development outside of St. Louis.  Some are accusing the developers of a bait and switch operation, where they showed the city a nice New Urbanist development and, now that that development has been approved and TIF money has been put together to finance it, the developers are trying to modify the plan to be more conventional, including anti-urban elements such as surface parking.  The city is not pleased with this change and the project has stalled, and should remained stalled until the developers bring back what they had originally promised.  If anyone who reads this lives in the St. Charles area, please write or call your City Council member and let them know that you want good urbanism back.

Update: The developer has doen his best to assure the council that his development will be New Urbanist in this article.
